Jammu, Sep 11: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu Police have apprehended a mother-son duo involved in narcotics smuggling. The arrests took place at the Purmandal Morh police naka on the NHW, continuing the dedicated efforts of the Jammu Police under the leadership of SP Jammu South, Ajay Sharma, to combat drug-related offenses in the region.
During a routine naka checking at Purmandal Morh, a team from the Police Station Gangyal, led by dedicated police officer Inspector Satvir Singh and operating under the adept supervision of SDPO Jammu South, Kartik Shrotriya IPS, intercepted the suspects. The arrested individuals have been identified as Jamsheed Ahmed, son of Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, and his mother Noora Begum, wife of Abdul Khaliq Sheikh. Jamsheed is a resident of Lasjan, Srinagar, while Noora hails from Athwajan, Lasjan Srinagar.
The police team, known for its vigilance and efficiency, conducted a thorough search of the suspects. In the process, they recovered 42 grams of a heroin-like substance from Jamsheed Ahmed. The swift and decisive action of the police has once again highlighted their unwavering commitment to eradicating drug peddling from the region.
Following the arrests, a case has been registered under FIR Number 95/2024 at Police Station Gangyal, encompassing relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The investigation is currently underway to uncover further details and connections related to this drug trafficking operation.
Since his appointment as SDPO Jammu South, Kartik Shrotriya IPS has been instrumental in instilling a strong sense of deterrence among drug traffickers, contributing significantly to the ongoing battle against narcotic crimes. The arrest of this duo underscores the continued efforts and effectiveness of the Jammu Police in their relentless fight against drug trafficking.
