Jammu, July 21: The yatra on the new track of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi was suspended on Friday due to a landslide in Katra town of Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The yatra, however, continues on the old traditional track.
“Landslides triggered on the new track at Himkoti during the wee hours,” the Shrine Boad official said.
He stated that the new track was closed due to a landslide, and the yatra has been suspended but is smoothly progressing on the traditional route.
The battery car service has also been suspended, he said, adding that the men are on the job to clear the track.
Around 20,000 to 25,000 pilgrims visit the cave shrine per day.
In the first six months of this year, more than 50 lakh devotees paid obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan. UNI
