Warn protest if authorities failed to rectify grievances of affected teachers

Rajouri, July 17: Representatives of Rajouri Civil Society on Monday lead a protest demonstration organised outside the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to express their resentment and demand of Administrative Inquiry into the recent list of transfers of teachers alleging large-scale favouritism & nepotism in the transfers.
Representatives, including Shafqat Mir, Tazeem Dar; Sain Abdul Rashid, DDC member Rajouri; Ishtiaq Bhat, also submitted a memorandum to Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary UT of J&K, & Principal Secretary, School Education Department, through Deputy Commissioner Rajouri to intervene and to take action in this matter.
After the release of the list, resentment has been brewing up among the affected teachers, especially women & handicapped who either were transferred to hard zones or to the schools situated at long distances (between 50-80 kms to travel daily basis) from their homes.
The Civil Society members in the memorandum alleged that all norms and parameters of transfer policy have been blatantly floated in view of large scale corruption and nepotism.
They demanded a fair and impartial inquiry by a senior officer in the Rajouri Administration with the help of an expert team and also demanded to keep the list in abeyance till the outcome of Inquiry.
The members of civil society also addressed the media and thoroughly pointed out discrepancies in the list leading to grave injustice among the teachers, especially females.
They warned to lodge large-scale protests if the concerned authorities failed to rectify the allegations alleged by the aggrieved teachers.
“Recently a deputation of affected female teachers met me and appraised about their grievances related to their transfers. Chief Education Officer was called to talk to teachers face to face & to listen their grievances and suitable redressal,” said Vikas Kundal, Deputy Commissioner.
“Some teachers were satisfied with the suggestions of CEO while others were not satisfied.
All the aggrieved teachers were asked to submit their complaints in writing as per directions from higher authorities for reconsideration,” he added.
