Better late than never!
- Mamta Rajput & Anju Raina duo of JKSSB has figured in the FIR of CBI but the FIR mentions that there are more unknown officials of JKSSB.
- The CBI has registered the FIR on 09-01-2023 vide No RC0042023A0001 and implicated seven person in which four are unknown.

Jammu, Jan 10: At last, the premier investigating agency of India Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against several knowing and unknowing persons under FIR No RC0042023A0001 dated 09-01-2023 regarding the malpractices, cheating and criminal conspiracy in the case of written examination of Junior Engineer (Civil) Jal Shakti Department conducted by J&K Service Selection Board.
As per the FIR copy, which is lying with Jammu Jottings, the CBI was entrusted to investigate the irregularities in written examination of the Junior Engineer (Civil) Jal Shakti Department and the exam was conducted by the J&K Service Selection board and it has further outsourced to a company namely M/s MeritTrac Services Private Limited, Bangaluru. The Jammu Jottings has broken the news in the initial stage and resulting that government has ordered to conduct an inquiry in depth to dig out the truth. The Inquiry Committee was headed by RK Goel IAS and the committee had detected criminal conspiracy amongst officials of JKSSB, M/s MeriTrac Services Private Limited Bengaluru, beneficiary candidates and other accused persons dishonestly causing gross irregularities in conduct of written examination of Junior Engineer (Civil), Jal Shakti Department conducted by JKSSB on 20-03-2022.
The UT government then requested the CBI to hold the in-depth inquiry in this grave issue of malpractices and gross irregularities in conduct of written examination. In this concern the GAD Department has written a letter vide its office No GAD-VIG0COMP/332/2022-04-GAD dated 24-08-2022 conveying the decision of Government of J&K and the CBI accepted the same request. The CBI has taken up the case for investigation.
The CBI after completing the investigation in first instant has registered FIR against some known and some unknown person to proceed the case further. Though the CBI has taken 138 days to register a FIR, yet the people hope that accused would be booked by the CBI.
The CBI has invoked the section 120-B and 420 in this written exam scandal and the case would be taken on the basis of these two acts. It is pertinent to mention that the CBI has got written complaint from the government of Jammu & Kashmir to expose the scammers sitting inside the JKSSB or outside. The Deputy Secretary of GAD Dr Mohammad Usman Khan KAS has written the letter to CBI for holding the in-depth investigation.
The CBI has registered the case against seven type of persons out of which four are unknown and this include – M/s MeritTrac Services Private Limited, Benguluru; Ms Mamta Rajput JKAS, Administrative Officer, JKSSB, Divisional Office, Jammu; Anju Raina Section Officer JKSSB; Unknown beneficiary candidates; Unknown officials of M/s MeritTrac Service Private Limited; Unknown officials of JKSSB; and Unknown others.
Specifically, the CBI has confirmed only three persons and in other four places CBI has mentioned unknown person, it clearly indicates that there are several persons of JKSSB who are involved but the CBI is still grappling with the issue but will not spare the persons who are involved but still at large and elusive.
