Rajouri, Sept 29: Security arrangements have further been tightened across Rajouri Township, the venue of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s public rally scheduled for October 4 (likely) after the recovery of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from a woman in Poonch town and two low-intensity blasts in the buses in Udhampur last night.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address two rallies at Rajouri & Baramullah (Kashmir), which have been neglected for many years, on October 4 & 5 respectively during his maiden visit after the abrogation of Article 370.
Earlier on September 27, Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh along with Additional DGP (security); Divisional Commissioner & Additional DGP, Jammu visited Rajouri and reviewed/discussed security arrangements with senior civil and police officers, including DCs of Rajouri & Poonch; SSP Rajouri and senior officers of the central/state intelligence agencies.
DGP issued necessary directions for the tight security arrangements in both the border districts of Rajouri & Poonch.
While admitting further tightening of security arrangements for the Home Minister’s visit after the recovery of IED in Poonch & two blasts in Udhampur, Dr. Haseeb Mughal, IPS, DIG Police Rajouri-Poonch Police Range said: “The activities of anti-national, anti-social, miscreants, surrendered militants, Over Ground Workers etc are under tight surveillance”.
All such elements have been directed to report at concerned police stations in both the districts for frisking and confirmation of their presence, DIG added.
“Detention of many such elements for security reasons can’t be ruled out,” said DIG.
Intelligence and security agencies are also keeping a close eye on such elements & their activities.
Regular meetings of the security forces, including the police, the Army, the CRPF, and the intelligence agencies are taking place on a regular basis to foil any attempt by the ANEs to disturb the peace in the area.
The venue of the Home Minister’s public Rally i.e New Bus stands near Sailani Bridge along the Jammu-Poonch highway has been sealed for the public and hectic efforts are going on to blacktop all the roads to be used for the movement of VVIP’s cavalcade.
