Rajouri, Apr 19: Two persons, reportedly drivers-cum-event caterer, were injured in Shahpur village- about 5 kilometers from Tehsil HQ at Kotranka in Rajouri district- in a mysterious explosion triggered by the anti-national elements at about 7.45 pm on Sunday.
The injured have been identified as Jasbir Singh s/o Balwant Singh r/o Mora and Buland Khan s/o Saim Mohd r/o Jaglanoo.
This was the second explosion triggered by the ANEs within 5 days and 4th after twin explosions triggered by the ANEs in Kotranka town on March 26 evening.
A couple from Uttar Pardesh and working as labourers namely Vinod Kumar & his wife Kranti was injured in the mysterious explosion that was triggered at about 8.45 pm on April 19 near the slum of these labourers.
The police concerned as well as the intelligence grid has failed to track/trace the culprits yet. According to Jasbir Singh and Buland Khan they were packing/ loading the tent items/ DJs in three Tata Mobiles after the marriage function was over at the house of one Amar Singh in Shahpur village.
“At about 7.45 pm today a grenade-type item (thrown from a height) hit one of the vehicles and damaged its body and floor. Some splinter hit both of us while standing near the vehicle,” said the injured.
“Those present in the house and outside ran for their safety after hearing a loud sound of an explosion. Later we provided first aid to both the injured and informed the police and health authorities,” said a member of the marriage family.
“Both the injured have been brought to CHC at Kandi Both have received splinter injuries and were provided required treatment. Both the injured are out of danger,” said Dr. Iqbal Malik, BMO.
Before the District Rajouri police could bring to book the culprits of twin explosions in Kotranka bazaar on March 26 and another explosion in the town on April 19, the anti-national elements (ANEs) once again struck on Sunday and targeted a marriage function, could be grenade throw, in Shahpur village.
This time also the ANEs targeted members of a particular community under the direction of their mentors.
The district police have not issued any statement on today’s alleged grenade throw/ suspicious explosion till the filing of this report.
Since September 2020, seven suspicious explosions, including one that occurred on Sunday in Shahpur village, have been triggered by the ANEs in the district, but no culprit has been arrested/identified so far.
On April 16, Rajouri police had recovered and defused an IED that was planted on the Rajouri-Chawa link road in the vicinity of Rajouri town.
Mohd Aslam, SSP Rajouri along with a team of senior police/Army officers and senior officers on Wednesday last had visited the spot where a powerful explosion had taken place outside the ‘Zhugi’ of a couple, resident of Uttar Pradesh.
