Srinagar, Apr 13: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of J&K on Wednesday arrested three officials of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) Tangmarg for demanding and accepting bribe, officials said.
ACB in a statement said that it received a complaint from a resident (name withheld) of village Gofbal Kunzer, district Baramulla alleging therein that he is running unit since 2014 and had applied before Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Tangmarg for upgrading the electricity consumption and sanction load in November 2021.
The officials of KPDCL Masood Ahmad and Ghulam Mohammad Bhat both Junior Engineers and Inspector Abdul Rashid Bhat (Meter Reader) demanded a huge bribe of Rs 2,60,00 for the settlement and processing of his file for upgrading the load.
On receipt of the complaint, case was registered in Police Station ACB Baramulla and investigation was taken up and a trap team constituted.
The team laid a successful trap and caught red-handed two Junior Engineers and Inspector of KPDCL special sub division Tangmarg while demanding and accepting bribe amount. They were arrested on the spot by the ACB team.
The bribe money was also recovered from their possession in presence of independent witnesses.
The role of Junaid Ahmad Mir, Assistant Executive Engineer and Manzoor Ahmad Bukhari, Assistant Engineer of KPDCL, Special Sub Division, Tangmarg is also being investigated, the ACB statement said and added further investigations of the case are going on. UNI
