Jammu, Feb 4: With an aim to promote official languages, the Jammu and Kashmir government shall be translating all government orders and documents in the official languages.
As per an order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on Friday, said that in pursuance of the Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Act 2020, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages shall take immediate necessary steps for development and promotion of Official languages and other regional languages of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Academy, in supersession of all previous orders on the subject, shall also be responsible for translation of important Government documents, Orders, Statutory orders etc. into four other Official Languages viz. Kashmiri, Dogri, Urdu and Hindi and their uploading on the respective websites through the concerned Department,” read an order.
It is further ordered that staff of the erstwhile Legislative Council deployed in the Official Language Section of GAD shall report to the Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, with immediate effect.
The salary of these officials shall continue to be drawn from the General Administration Department on submission of monthly reports of attendance, read an order. UNI
