India A to tour SA: J&K’s speedster Umran Malik makes into squad

Jammu, Nov 9: Speedster from Jammu and Kashmir, Umran Malik, who had recently impressed everyone with his raw pace in the recently-concluded IPL 2021 season, on Tuesday selected for India-A team for the upcoming South Africa tour.
The Jammu-based pacer, who is currently part of J&K senior squad in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament, was named in the India-A squad by All India senior selection committee of BCCI.
Taking to Twitter, Administrator, Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, Brig (retd), Anil Gupta wrote, “JKCA Umran Malik selected as member of India A team to tour SA. Well done Umar! You have really proved that there is no substitute for talent.”
However, speaking to UNI, Brig Gupta said, “His selection (Umran Malik) has proved that there is no substitute for talent and the focus on recognizing the talent, which has been started by us (JKCA) with this aim so that J&K can produce more number of cricketers at national and international-level in coming days.”
“Some of our players have also performed very well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament and they are also under the scanner by the selectors other than Umran Malik,” said the Administrator.
“Our women’s team has already created history by winning all the matches and we are hopeful that with the processes we have set in place, J&K cricket is on the upswing,” he expressed.
India-A is scheduled to tour South Africa from November 23.
Recently a part of India T20 squad in T20 World Cup as net bowler, Umran made a mark after impressing everyone with his pace during Indian Premier League (IPL) for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the UAE.
He emerged as the fastest bowler of IPL 2021 by clocking 153 kph and consistently bowling over 150 kph. UNI
