Kishtwar, Oct 17: Many of the young PSI’s during their practical training period have been converted in to “Dandaamen”. This sounds beyond belief but is true according to our Kishtwar reporter. Many of the trainees PSI’s have been officially issued sticks ‘Dandaa’ are daily asked to stand on the road to clear the traffic. Is this the training being imparted to the future officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police? With this situation how an officer will learn policing? Even many residents of the town have reacted though not in public but within their groups that how these young officers with ‘Danda’ in their hands all the will become efficient and competent officers of tomorrow without being given an opportunity to work at police stations and posts. Instead of giving a stick in their hands they should be attached with junior but experienced police officials so that they can learn the various significant aspects and functions of police. Some residents have even found discussing that this region is militancy pone and there is always a possibility of any militant attack or attempt. In such circumstances an officer holding ‘Danda’ in his hand is not in a position to counter the attack, as such how he will protect the citizens. They expressed hope that higher officer will rethink over this decision of converting the young PSI’s during their practical training into “Dandaamen”.
