S. S. Sodhi Graces 10m Asian Pistol Championship as Chief Guest; India Shines

New Delhi, Feb 5: India put up an impressive show at the 10m Asian Pistol Championship, held recently at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, which saw participation from 19 Asian countries and over 300 shooters. The medal distribution ceremony was graced by Sh. S. S. Sodhi, Governing Body Member and President of the Jammu & Kashmir Rifle Association, who attended the event as the Chief Guest and felicitated the medal winners.
Indian pistol shooters delivered standout performances in the 10m air pistol events, clinching Gold and Silver medals in individual and team categories. The strong showing underlined India’s growing dominance and depth in pistol shooting at the Asian level, with athletes displaying consistency, composure, and technical excellence throughout the championship.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Sodhi congratulated the medal winners and participating shooters, stating that hosting international championships in India provides vital exposure to young talent. He emphasised that disciplined training, competitive opportunities, and institutional backing are essential for producing world-class shooters and expressed confidence in India’s continued success at Asian and global platforms.
The championship also reflected the proactive role of the National Rifle Association of India in strengthening the shooting ecosystem nationwide. Under the leadership of Pawan Singh, Secretary General, the Association has been actively supporting both existing and upcoming shooters through guidance, training initiatives, and close coordination with state associations.
In Jammu & Kashmir, the JKRA and shooting ranges are working with renewed commitment to prepare shooters for national, Asian, and world championships. Performers like Aneesha Sharma, who has earned distinction in several national and international competitions, reflect the steady progress being made, with many more promising shooters emerging from the region.
