Rajouri, Feb 19: If sources are to be believed, residents of Dhangri village in Rajouri district have postponed their hunger strike, scheduled for February 20, reportedly till Wednesday due to the religious rituals of the seven persons killed on January 1 & 2 in twin terror attacks.
Earlier, while expressing their resentment over the failure of security agencies in tracing and killing the two terrorists behind the gruesome twin attacks in the village, the residents of Dhangri and adjoin areas had decided to go on hunger strike from February 5.
But, the Dhangri residents postponed going on hunger strike for 15 days, i.e till February 20, as they didn’t want to hamper the investigation being conducted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) teams.
Dhangri residents expressed their concern that even after 50 days of the gruesome terror attacks, in which they lost their 7 persons, including two children, the killers are still untraced.
Besides other demands, the residents have been demanding the elimination of the killers and action against those who have helped them.
Reliable sources said that Saroj Bala, mother of Deepak and Prince who were killed in the terrorist attack, along with family members of five others killed have decided to sit on an indefinite hunger strike.
Five persons, including two brothers and a father-son duo, were killed in the firing on January 1 and two children died & ten others were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) left behind by the attackers went off on January 2 at about 10 am.
Residents of Dhangri in a meeting on Sunday decided to postpone their hunger strike till February 22 due to the religious rituals of the deceased.
While expressing their concern over the failure of security forces in finding clues about the killers of their people, Dhangri Sarpanch said that they decided not to give any more time to the administration and asked them to intensify their efforts to eliminate the attackers.
“It has also been decided to give in writing about our resentment, including a hunger strike, to the Civil/Police administration on Monday,” said Sarpanch Dheeraj Kumar.
According to unconfirmed reports instead going on hunger strike, Dhangri residents may abandon the village to lodge their resentment.
