ANANTNAG, JUNE 12: In a major success under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Anantnag Police has dealt a severe blow to narcotics syndicates, recording a remarkable 60 percent decline in peddling activities across the district through a sustained and intelligence-driven campaign spearheaded by SSP Anantnag Amod Ashok Nagpure.
The district’s anti-narcotics offensive has emerged as one of the most impactful enforcement campaigns in Jammu and Kashmir, with police targeting not only traffickers and peddlers but also the financial networks supporting the illegal trade.
Through coordinated operations, strategic investigations and stringent legal action, Anantnag Police has significantly weakened the narcotics ecosystem operating in the region.

During the campaign, 172 FIRs under the NDPS Act were registered and 156 accused persons were arrested for their involvement in narcotics-related activities.
Police also seized 323 kilograms of contraband substances, preventing large quantities of narcotics from reaching communities and vulnerable youth.
In a decisive strike against the economic foundations of the illegal trade, police initiated action against properties worth approximately ?16 crore, allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from narcotics trafficking.
The move is being seen as a major deterrent aimed at dismantling the financial infrastructure of criminal networks.
Another significant achievement of the campaign has been the destruction of 1,606 kilograms of seized narcotic substances after completion of legal formalities, ensuring that the contraband could never re-enter circulation.
Under the leadership of SSP Amod Ashok Nagpure, Anantnag Police has adopted a comprehensive strategy involving intelligence-based operations, surprise raids, naka checking, technical surveillance and community participation.
The approach has helped disrupt supply chains, identify key operators and create sustained pressure on those involved in the illegal trade.
Officials attribute the 60 percent decline in peddling to the district police’s zero-tolerance policy, proactive policing and strong public support.
The campaign has not only resulted in arrests and recoveries but has also created a powerful deterrent effect, discouraging individuals from engaging in narcotics-related activities.
