JAMMU, June 10: In what is being described as one of the most significant anti-narcotics enforcement actions in Jammu’s recent history, Jammu Police under the leadership of SSP Joginder Singh, in coordination with the District Administration, demolished properties worth nearly ?6 crore allegedly linked to notorious accused Gulzar Ahmed alias Lahu, his brother Farman Ali alias Phalla, and Fareeda Bibi alias Majeeda in Bishnah on Wednesday.
The high-profile operation targeted individuals whom police have identified as key figures in a criminal network allegedly involved in narcotics trafficking and other serious offences. Amid heavy security deployment, bulldozers razed multiple structures, striking directly at what investigators describe as the financial foundations of the alleged crime syndicate.
At the centre of the crackdown is Gulzar Ahmed alias Lahu, a resident of Waziru Chak, Bishnah, who according to police records is facing 28 criminal cases registered under the NDPS Act, Arms Act, IPC and BNS. Police officials describe him as one of the most notorious repeat offenders in the district, whose alleged criminal activities have remained under law enforcement scrutiny for years.
Authorities also targeted assets linked to Farman Ali alias Phalla, son of Bashir Ahmed, a resident of Waziru Chak presently residing at Sarore in Samba. Police records indicate that Phalla is facing eight criminal cases and has allegedly been associated with criminal activities connected to the narcotics trade.
The third accused, Fareeda Bibi alias Majeeda, is also under investigation in an NDPS-related case and has been identified by officials as an alleged conduit of a UAPA accused. Authorities said all three individuals were part of a network whose activities had become a matter of serious concern for law enforcement agencies.
Officials alleged that the accused used proceeds generated through unlawful activities to create assets and expand their influence, thereby strengthening the infrastructure supporting criminal operations. Wednesday’s demolition was aimed at dismantling that infrastructure and ensuring that crime does not translate into economic power.
The operation reflects the aggressive anti-drug strategy adopted by SSP Joginder Singh, who has repeatedly emphasized that the fight against narcotics cannot be won through arrests alone. Police have increasingly focused on identifying, attaching and demolishing assets allegedly created through proceeds of crime, thereby weakening the financial muscle of criminal networks.
Senior officers said the action sends an unmistakable message that no offender, regardless of influence or notoriety, will be permitted to enjoy assets allegedly accumulated through illegal activities. “The objective is to destroy the economic foundations of organized crime and ensure that drug traffickers do not benefit from their unlawful gains,” officials stated.
Residents described the operation as a historic moment in the ongoing battle against the drug menace. Many viewed the demolition as a visible assertion of state authority against criminal elements accused of spreading addiction and insecurity in society.
As bulldozers brought down walls, rooftops and structures linked to the accused, Jammu Police delivered one of its strongest messages yet: criminal empires built on drugs, intimidation and illegal wealth will not stand.
