Jammu, March 22, 2026: In a decisive and impactful strike against drug trafficking, Police Station Miran Sahib, under the strategic overall supervision of SSP Jammu Sh. Joginder Singh (JKPS), has successfully intercepted a drug peddler and recovered a significant consignment of narcotics. This latest success brings the total heroin recovered by Police Station Miran Sahib to a remarkable 985.49 grams within just one month since SHO Jatinder Singh assumed charge, reinforcing Jammu Police’s unwavering commitment to a drug-free society.
The meticulously planned operation unfolded on March 21, 2026, as a police naka team, led by PSI Rajan Choudhary (In-charge Naka) and comprising HC Arjun Kumar, SPO Lucky Choudhary, SPO Suresh Kumar, and SPO Gharu Singh, was strategically deployed at Tutray Chowk Ring Road. This team operated under the close supervision of SHO Miran Sahib Inspector Jatinder Singh, with guidance from SDPO R.S. Pura Gurmeet Singh and SP Hqrs Irshad Hussain Rather (JKPS). At approximately 7:40 PM, the vigilant team spotted a suspicious individual moving towards Ring Road. Upon noticing the officers, the person attempted to evade them but was immediately apprehended through swift action.
The accused was identified as Harpal Singh, son of Puran Singh, a resident of Ward No. 14, Kathua District. Upon conducting a thorough search, Harpal Singh was found in possession of approximately 262 grams of heroin-like substance. Alongside the substantial drug consignment, police also recovered a mobile phone, ₹1.5 lakh in cash, and a weighing machine, indicating the scale of his illicit operations. Notices under Section 50 of the NDPS Act were duly served in the presence of SDPO R.S. Pura Gurmeet Singh. A case has been registered under FIR No. 44/2026 Sections 8/21/22/27-A of the NDPS Act at Police Station Miran Sahib. The accused has been arrested, the contraband seized, and further investigation is actively underway to unearth the nexus and work out forward/backward linkages in the case.
