Jasmeet on his mission! RTO Jammu Intensifies Drive to Tackle Traffic Violations Across City: A Step Towards Orderly Roads

Jammu, Aug 24: In a concerted effort to bring much-needed discipline to the roads of Jammu, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Jammu, Mr. Jasmeet Singh (JKAS), has launched an extensive campaign targeting key issues contributing to traffic chaos in the city. Widely regarded as one of the most sincere and dynamic officers in the administrative framework, Mr. Singh is spearheading a mission to transform Jammu’s traffic ecosystem with professionalism, dedication, and a clear focus on results.
Under his proactive leadership and in line with the broader vision of ensuring safer, smoother commutes for all, Team RTO Jammu has been conducting a series of special enforcement drives across various high-traffic zones over the past several days. These operations are aimed at curbing overloading in mini-buses, penalizing unauthorised and improper parking by taxis, private vehicles, and auto-rickshaws, and ensuring strict compliance by school transport operators.
One of the prominent checkpoints in this initiative has been Bikram Chowk, where RTO teams have been actively monitoring vehicle movement and taking swift action against violators. Particular attention has been paid to the areas surrounding Jammu Railway Station, Shiv Market, and Vaishnavi Dham, which have long suffered from illegal parking and bottlenecks caused by haphazardly stationed vehicles.
During the course of the operations, three-wheeler drivers were firmly warned against unauthorised parking, especially on the main road fronts that are critical for smooth traffic flow. Similarly, shopkeepers in Shiv Market were urged not to use the main road as a private parking space, as such practices significantly add to daily congestion and inconvenience to the public.
The enforcement effort led to the inspection of nearly 200 vehicles, out of which 35 were e-challaned for a variety of traffic violations. Additionally, two vehicles were seized on the spot for non-compliance. The total estimated fine collected from these e-challans stands at ?60,000, reflecting the seriousness of the violations and the administration’s zero-tolerance approach.
The public has responded positively to this initiative, appreciating the firm yet fair approach adopted by the RTO and his team. Mr. Jasmeet Singh’s leadership is being widely acknowledged for its clarity of purpose, grounded execution, and commitment to public welfare.
