Jammu, Aug 21: In a landmark move to uphold urban planning norms and reclaim government land from unlawful occupation, the Jammu Development Authority (JDA), under the dynamic leadership of Vice Chairman Mr Rupesh Kumar (IAS), launched a massive anti-encroachment drive in the Tehsil Jammu Khas region.
The high-impact operation, executed in close coordination with the District Administration, focused on the strategically important areas of Sidhra, Majeen, and Rangoora. It resulted in the demolition of over 20 unauthorized structures, including newly constructed buildings and boundary walls, all of which were found in violation of prescribed land use regulations and lacked requisite approvals.
The drive culminated in the successful retrieval of approximately 110 Kanals of prime JDA-owned land-an important milestone in the Authority’s ongoing campaign to restore public assets and deter illegal constructions.
To ensure that the reclaimed land remains protected, the JDA has initiated comprehensive security measures, including the installation of fencing and prominent warning signage at vulnerable locations. These steps are aimed at preventing future encroachments and preserving the integrity of public land for planned urban development.
Officials highlighted that the operation was carried out in a meticulously planned and peaceful manner, with full administrative and logistical support from the District Administration, allowing for swift execution across multiple locations.
Reaffirming its unwavering stance, the JDA reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against encroachments and illegal constructions. The Authority has issued a stern warning that all violators will face strict legal consequences, including prosecution under relevant laws.
The Jammu Development Authority has also appealed to the general public to adhere to all legal protocols regarding land ownership and construction. Citizens are urged to verify titles and obtain the necessary permissions from competent authorities before initiating any development activity.
With this successful drive, the JDA has once again demonstrated its firm commitment to preserving public land, enforcing urban planning regulations, and promoting lawful development across the region.
Since the assumption of charge by Mr. Rupesh Kumar, IAS, as the Vice Chairman of the Jammu Development Authority (JDA), the organization has witnessed a remarkable transformation marked by proactive governance and resolute action. Known for his dynamic leadership and unwavering commitment to public service, Mr. Kumar has not remained idle for a single day. From the moment he took office, he has consistently led from the front in the mission to reclaim government land from the clutches of illegal encroachers.
With each passing day, Mr. Rupesh Kumar has intensified efforts to identify, assess, and retrieve precious parcels of public land that had been unlawfully occupied. His tenure is characterized by swift, strategic anti-encroachment drives, carried out with utmost coordination and administrative efficiency. Under his vigilant supervision, the JDA has been reinvigorated with a sense of purpose, determination, and integrity.
Vice Chairman Kumar’s steadfast resolve to uphold the rule of law and protect public assets has set a new benchmark in urban governance, earning him admiration across administrative and civil society circles alike.
