Jammu, July 21, 2025: In a piercing strike against the deeply entrenched and often familial networks of the narcotics trade, the team from Police Station Bishnah has busted a major drug syndicate, apprehending a father-in-law and son-in-law duo and recovering a huge quantity of heroin and cash. This intelligence-led operation, executed flawlessly by the team of SHO Bishnah, Inspector Sushil Choudhary, and conducted under the larger strategic command of SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, JKPS, highlights the force’s sharpened focus on dismantling drug hotspots and severing the financial lifelines of traffickers.

Acting on reliable and specific information, a police team established a naka at Sikandarpur Kothey in Bishnah, a locality identified as a significant drug hotspot. The alert team intercepted a Swift car bearing registration number JK02BB-9853. A subsequent search of the vehicle and its occupants led to a massive recovery: 283 grams of a substance suspected to be heroin (chitta), and a staggering ₹20,02,000 (Twenty Lakhs and Two Thousand Rupees) in cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug sales. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also seized.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sadiq Ali alias Jattu, son of Roshan Din, a resident of Handey Chal, Marheen in District Kathua, and his father-in-law, Saif Ali alias Safu, son of Noor Ali, resident of Village Sikanderpur Kothey, Bishnah. The apprehension of this closely-related pair underscores the deep-seated nature of the drug trade, where criminal enterprises are often run within family structures. Their sustained interrogation is expected to provide crucial leads on the entire supply chain, from the source of the contraband to its distribution network. A case under FIR No. 69/2025 has been registered at Police Station Bishnah under the stringent sections 8, 21, 22, 25, 27-A, and 29 of the NDPS Act.

The success of this high-stakes operation is a testament to the focused strategy being implemented by zonal heads under the direction of SSP Jammu. The operation was led on the ground by SDPO R S Pura, Gurmeet Singh, JKPS, and SHO Bishnah, Inspector Sushil Choudhary, along with PSI Darshan Singh and PSI Purshotam Kumar, all under the direct supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu, Irshad Hussain Rather, JKPS. SP Rather’s Headquarters Zone has been a bulwark in the district’s fight against organised crime, spearheading the use of preventive detention laws to keep habitual offenders off the streets. This year alone, his zone has been responsible for 3 of the 7 stringent PIT NDPS detentions and 5 of the 11 Public Safety Act (PSA) detentions in the entire Jammu district, a significant contribution that has been instrumental in disrupting criminal networks.

A comprehensive, multi-directional investigation is now underway. Police are thoroughly examining all backward and forward linkages to trace the source and intended destination of the narcotics. In a crucial move to permanently cripple the syndicate, a parallel financial investigation has been initiated. This probe will meticulously trace the proceeds of the illegal drug trade, with the ultimate aim of identifying and attaching all assets acquired through this criminal enterprise, ensuring that the traffickers are hit where it hurts the most.

Jammu Police continues to urge citizens to come forward with any information regarding illegal drug activities. The force is confident that with continued public cooperation and its relentless, multi-pronged strategy, it will succeed in its mission to build a drug-free and crime-free society.
