Agency Team Camps at Police Station Till Late Evening Collecting Evidence; Noose Tightens on Corrupt Officer and Potential Accomplices
Intensifying its probe into the sensational plot to frame Sarpanch Gurdyal Singh, a CBI team returned to the R.S. Pura Police Station today, seizing crucial CCTV footage and other records pertaining to the fugitive accused, Sub-Inspector Mohammad Bashir Malik.
The presence of the SP Headquarters at the police station during the CBI’s extensive, hours-long evidence collection highlights the gravity with which the administration is now treating the case of alleged police corruption and conspiracy.
This follows a dramatic failed trap where SI Bashir escaped after being exposed for allegedly coercing a minor to falsely implicate the Sarpanch in the natural death of her mother, Pooja Devi, in a bid to extort money.

R.S. Pura, July 05, 2025: The investigation into the sinister plot to frame Sarpanch Gurdyal Singh of Gharana has intensified dramatically, as a team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) returned to the R.S. Pura Police Station on Friday, camping for hours to seize crucial evidence in their determined effort to hunt down the fugitive mastermind, Sub-Inspector Mohammad Bashir Malik, and unravel the full extent of the conspiracy. The agency’s meticulous evidence-gathering operation, conducted in the presence of the SP Headquarters, signals that the noose is tightening not only on the absconding SI but also on any potential accomplices who may have facilitated his corrupt designs.
Arriving at the R.S. Pura Police Station at approximately 1:00 PM, the CBI team launched into a thorough and prolonged session of evidence collection that lasted late into the evening. A key objective of their visit was to secure the CCTV footage from the police station’s own surveillance system. This footage is considered vital as it could provide a timeline of SI Malik’s activities, document his interactions with the complainant’s family, and potentially reveal other individuals who may have been involved in the plot. In addition to the video evidence, the team meticulously collected other information and records pertaining to the official conduct and case diaries handled by the absconding officer, leaving no stone unturned in their quest for irrefutable proof.
The gravity of the situation was underscored by the presence of the SP Headquarters at the police station during the CBI’s operation. This indicates that the Jammu Police leadership is treating the matter with the utmost seriousness, acknowledging the deep rot exposed within their own ranks and likely cooperating fully with the central agency to cleanse the system.
This follow-up action comes just a day after the explosive revelation of a vile conspiracy, where SI Mohammad Bashir Malik allegedly attempted to frame Sarpanch Gurdyal Singh in the death of a woman, Pooja Devi. Medical reports had conclusively ruled her death as natural, likely from a heart attack. However, SI Malik allegedly coerced the deceased’s minor daughter into giving a false statement implicating the Sarpanch. This fabricated testimony was then reportedly used as leverage to extort money from the innocent village head.
The plot was foiled when the Sarpanch’s family, armed with evidence of his innocence including screenshots of the minor girl admitting her statement was being scripted by her maternal grandfather, approached the CBI. A trap was laid to catch SI Malik red-handed, but the corrupt officer, who has a prior criminal record including an arrest in Nagrota (FIR No. 58/2025), managed to escape and has been on the run since.
The manhunt to nab the fugitive SI is now in full swing, with multiple agencies on high alert. The evidence collected today from the R.S. Pura Police Station will be crucial in building an airtight case against him and in identifying any other officials who may have been complicit, either actively or through negligence. The investigation has moved beyond just the actions of one corrupt officer and is now probing the possibility of a wider network that felt emboldened enough to manipulate a tragedy for personal gain, right under the nose of the law.
