Search Operations Intensify in Rajouri and Gagrian-Poonch Sectors

Rajouri–Poonch, June 15: In a major crackdown on suspicious activities in the Gagrian area of the Sawjian sector in Poonch district, security forces on Sunday searched several houses of individuals reportedly in regular contact with their family members who have joined militancy and are operating from Pakistan/PoJK.
The raids followed intelligence inputs regarding unusual movements and cross-border communication.
Electronic Surveillance and Investigation Underway
Official sources revealed that electronic devices of certain suspects have been intercepted during the ongoing surveillance operations. Communication records are currently under scrutiny to uncover any potential cross-border links that could threaten national security.
Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of further detentions for questioning as the investigation progresses.
The heavy deployment of security forces in the area has caused tension among locals. However, officials clarified that the operation is preventive and intended to preserve peace and stability in the border region.
Army Launches Operation in Keri Sector, Rajouri
Meanwhile, the Indian Army has launched a search and destroy operation in the forward areas of the Keri sector in Rajouri district, following inputs of suspicious movement during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
Residents reported hearing 5–6 loud blasts on Saturday night and Sunday morning from the forward Baratgala general area.
As of now, no official statement has been issued by the Army or the police regarding the developments in the Keri sector.
