Pakistani mother of a 14-day-old infant allowed to stay at Budhal in Rajouri

Rajouri, April 30: Sara Khan, a resident of Rajnagar Budhal in Rajouri district, has been allowed by the Indian government to stay with her family on medical grounds and due to her valid Long-Term Visa (LTV), which is valid until March 2026.
She is the mother of a 14-day-old infant and a 6-year-old son, Umar Hayat, who was born in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Sara was earlier detained along with Umar on Tuesday for defying deportation orders and taken to the Attari-Wagah border for repatriation, leaving her newborn son, an Indian citizen by birth, behind.
This action was in compliance with an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Foreigners-I Division), Government of India, under Order No. 25022/28/2025-F dated April 25, 2025.
Sara Khan was accompanied by her husband, Aurangzeb Khan, and father-in-law, Zamurad Khan, who appealed to the authorities to let her stay, citing her recent caesarean delivery and her valid visa status.
“On our request and after verifying valid documents, officials at the Attari-Wagah border cooperated and allowed Sara Khan and Umar Hayat to stay with the family in Budhal,” said Zamurad Khan while returning to Rajouri.
Zamurad further informed The Jammu Jottings that Sara received her LTV 6 months after the birth of Umar in Pakistan. While she and Umar were being deported, authorities initially did not permit her newborn son to accompany her, prompting the family to request reconsideration at the border.
Meanwhile, another resident of Rajnagar Budhal, 18-year-old Aasim Sajad, left India on Wednesday. Aasim, son of Sajad Ahmad, was born in Pakistan and raised in Budhal.
His father had married his maternal cousin, Shabnam Akhtar, from Gujranwala about 20 years ago.
After obtaining an LTV, Shabnam settled in Budhal, where the couple later had another son. Shabnam passed away a few years ago, and both children have since been raised by their grandparents.
