16 children & 2 Moulvis of Madrasa suffer food poisoning in Mendhar

All are stable and out of danger.: CMO Poonch

Rajouri, January 7: Fourteen students and two Moulvis of a Madrasa in Narool village of Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district of UT of J&K suffered from suspected food poisoning after having a meal in a religious function on Tuesday (January 7) morning.

Health department officials said that the children and Moulvi were served food at a religious function at the house of one Master Mohd Akram Pathan in village Banola.

The students, all boys aged around 8 to 15 years, complained of vomiting, nausea, stomach ache and dizziness after consuming the meal.

The matter was brought to the notice of health authorities & police and the ambulances were rushed to the village and all were rushed to sub district hospital at Mendhar.

All the 16 persons of Madrasa Madina Tul Aloom are admitted in sub district hospital have suffered from acute gastroenteritis following intake of some food in religious function at village Narool.

Vikas Kundal, IAS Deputy Commissioner Poonch has directed Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Poonch, Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan to instruct BMO Mendhar to ensure better health care facilities to the children/Moulvi and update CMO about their health condition.

“All are under treatment in the sub district hospital at Mendhar and are stable and in treatment. They all are out of danger” said CMO Poonch, Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan

The children and Moulvi admitted in Mendhar hospital have been identified as Moulvi Mohd Aslam Malik (45 years) r/o Dhargloon; Moulvi Mohd Ishaq (30) r/o Arai- Poonch; Whazad Hussain (13), Mohd Danish (12), Adil Chowdhary (13),Ashfaq Ahmed(13), Umer Qureshi (14), all residents of village Arai-Poonch;  Mohd Zwshan (10), Rehan Ahmed (14) both residents of Narol; Farhan Ahmed (8), Raja Rammez Qureshi (12), Sadam Hussan (13), all residents of Chhatral; Mumtaz Hussain (11), Mushtaq Ahmed (10) both residents of Salwah , and Fazan Alhi r/o Mandi.

Sources said an investigation is on in this matter.
