Police crackdown on Interstate drug supplier, SHO Zaheer remained instrumental

Jammu, Jul 24: Under the banner of Operation Sanjeevani, law enforcement authorities have made a significant breakthrough by apprehending a notorious inter-state drug supplier. The arrest, conducted by a team from Police Station Vijaypur led by SHO PS Vijaypur Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, occurred during a special operation at 17 Miles Vijaypur.
The operation unfolded when officers signaled a swift car with registration No. JK08P-1912, traveling from Jammu, to stop for inspection. Upon spotting the police presence, the driver attempted to flee the scene by accelerating away. However, with swift action, the vigilant police team pursued and intercepted the vehicle a short distance from the checkpoint.
Upon conducting a thorough search, police recovered approximately 16.82 grams of Heroin and a significant sum of cash amounting to Rs. 6,13,000 from the driver’s possession. The arrested individual, identified as Mohd Aslam, son of Teg Ali and resident of Mathra Chak, tehsil Hiranagar, district Kathua, is well-known in law enforcement circles as a repeat offender in narcotics-related crimes. He was previously arrested in a NDPS case at PS Vijaypur in 2022 and has multiple cases registered against him in Punjab, PS Pouni (Reasi), PS Rajbagh (Kathua), and PS Vijaypur.
The police seized not only the contraband substances but also a weighing machine believed to be used in drug distribution activities. The arrest of Mohd Aslam is a significant development in the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, and further investigations are underway to uncover any additional criminal networks associated with him.
It has been revealed that Mohd Aslam is considered a key figure in the drug trade, with FIRs stand registered against him by police stations in Kathua, Reasi, Punjab, Samba, Vijaypur, and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). His arrest marks a major success in disrupting the operations of a prominent drug trafficking network.
The accused is currently in police custody and will face legal proceedings as per the relevant provisions of the law. This operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to dismantle drug networks and safeguard public health and safety. He is also required in one NDPS case registered at NCB in commercial quantity.
