Rs 70 crore Heroin that had come from Pakistan recovered in Srinagar

Srinagar, Apr 6: In one of the biggest seizures, J&K police recovered Heroin worth nearly Rs 70 crore from the possession of two cross border narco smugglers in Srinagar, police said on Thursday.
Additional Director General of Police, Vijay Kumar said the seized drugs weighing 11.089 Kilos had come from Pakistan and two cross-border narco smugglers were arrested.
Police said the Heroin was recovered following specific information.
“Narcotic substance i.e Heroin weighing 11.089 kg (worth approximately 70 crore in international market) was recovered from two cross border narcotic smugglers, who were arrested,” Srinagar police said.
They identified the duo as Sajjad Ahmed Badana of Nachyan, Karnah, Kupwara and Zaheer Ahmed Tanch of Amroyi Karnah, Kupwara.
“Initial questioning of the accused has revealed that the consignment of these drugs had come from Pakistan,” police said
Proceeds of drugs in cash amounting to Rupees 11, 82,500 was also recovered from them, police added.
Police said both the arrested accused were residing in a rented accommodation owned by Ghulam Mohd Dar of Kursoo, Rajbagh.
An FIR has been registered in Police station Rajbagh under sections 8,21,29 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. UNI
