Jammu, Dec 16: The police of Jammu district under the guidance of SSP Chandan Kohli have taken the challenge of drug menace in Jammu district and working day and night to bridle the drug peddlers and they are trying to reach upto source of pumping drugs in Jammu.
In a major success Jammu Police has recovered 36 kilograms of charas at a special naka established in the jurisdictions of PS Nagrota by Jammu Police.
Giving details, SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli said that a naka was established near Ban Toll Plaza by Police teams of PS Nagrota led by SDPO Nagrota Pardeep Kumar along with SHO PS Nagrota Inspr Vishav Partap Singh in the area under their jurisdiction.
He further added that a suspected person who was on his Truck bearing registration number PB10CZ 4214 was rounded up, he was questioned about any narcotics in his truck but he outrightly denied. He was asked about his movement as his truck was almost empty. He could not give any satisfactory answer and during thorough search a cavity was noticed and after its search 36 packets of charas of 1 kg each was recovered from the toolbox of the truck by teams of PS Nagrota.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 423/2022 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act got registered in PS Nagrota and accused got arrested.
The accused arrested has been identified as Mohan Singh son of Ujjagar Singh resident of Manakpur, Patiala Punjab.
The arrest and recovery was made under the overall supervision of SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
It is pertinent to mention that the seizure is said to be huge in its way and its market value is pegged to be running in millions.
In the end, SSP Jammu said that Jammu police is working intensively to uproot the chains of drug supply in the region and thorough questioning of the accused is going on to know the origin of the drugs supply chain.
