No Kashmiri pandit working under PM development package resign: Nityanand Rai

New Delhi, July 26: Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai on Tuesday said that as per information provided by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, no Kashmiri Pandit working under the Prime Minister’s Development Package has resigned recently in protest of the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit in the Valley.
The minister informed this in a written reply in Lok Sabha on the question of Shiv Sena MPs Arvind Sawant and Vinayak Raut.
He added that the Government has taken several measures to ensure safety of Kashmiri Pandits in the valley.
“These include a robust security and intelligence grid, day & night area domination, proactive operations against terrorists, round the clock checking at Nakas, patrolling in the areas where the Kashmiri Pandits reside, deployment of Security Forces at strategic points to thwart any terrorist attack” he said the house.
The Minister informed that under the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP), 5502 Kashmiri Migrants have been provided Government jobs.
He said that the government has also approved construction of 6000 transit accommodations for Kashmiri Migrant employees engaged or to be engaged in different departments of Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir in the valley.
Answering the other question on the terrorist attack in the valley, he said there has been substantial decline in terrorist attacks from 417 in 2018 to 229 in 2021.
He however added that there have been a few targeted attacks on people belonging to minority communities and migrant workers by terrorists sponsored from across the border.
“The Government has a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and the security situation has improved significantly in Jammu and Kashmir” he said.
The Minister informed that as per the information provided by Government of Jammu and Kashmir, 28 migrant workers have been killed since 2017, out of which 02 belonged to Maharashtra, 01 to Jharkhand, 07 to Bihar and none from Madhya Pradesh. UNI
