J&K police begins to attach property for sheltering militants

Srinagar, Mar 24: J&K police has started the process of attaching more than a dozen immovable properties in Srinagar which have been used for harbouring militants.
J&K police said that it has identified “over a dozen houses in Srinagar district which were used during 2020 and 2021 for terrorism purposes.”
“The process for attachment of these identified houses has started,” a senior police officer in Srinagar said. “These houses include where encounters broke or where terrorists took shelter and planned attacks” he added.
Earlier, Srinagar police in a Tweet said that properties would be attached as per section 2(g) & 25 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
“Process has started for attachment of some immovable properties which have been used for purpose of terrorism as per section 2(g) & 25 of ULP Act,” Srinagar police said in a Tweet.
“Don’t give shelter or harbour terrorists/terror associates. Legal action will be supplemented by property attachments as per law.”
The decision to attack property, it is widely believed, is to convey a clear message to the common people not to give shelter to militants.
