New Delhi, Jan 11: (UNI) Delhi police on Tuesday arrested eight people including one agent and seven passengers in alleged fake boarding passes and documents cases, police said.
The police had registered two separate cases regarding fake boarding passes and documents and arrested eight people. Seven passengers have been identified as Armandeep Singh, Amritpal Singh, Jagdeep Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Rahul Jangra, Deepak and Manbeer, and one agent identified as Pankaj.
During scrutiny of the travel documents by Air India at the boarding gate, it was found that their boarding passes were fake, and re-verification of travel documents was done. During the re-verification of documents it was found that their names were not reflected in the final travel chart. On the basis of complaint, the cases were registered at IGI Airport police station in Delhi, said Sanjay Tyagi, Deputy Commissioner of Police, IGI Airport, Delhi.
During interrogation, these passengers told police that they procured their boarding passes, RT-PCR test reports and OK to board ship joining letter by two Delhi based agents for a payment of Rs 12 lakh from each, these agents also assured them for their permanent settlement in United Kingdom (UK).
DCP said that during interrogation, the accused also revealed that they were going to UK as Seamen on Continuous Discharge Certificates (CDC), and had a plan that once they reached the UK then would destroy CDC certificates and seek asylum from UK Government. The agent had the apprehension that if the passengers approach Airlines counter for boarding passes, the Airlines officials might apprehend them on the basis of their profile. Hence, the agent allegedly gave fake boarding passes to the passengers so that they could avoid going to the Airlines Counter.
The police said that the mastermind agent was on a run and his movement was continuously changing. The team located the location of Pankaj and apprehended him.
