Iconic Week Fest: J&K Sports Council’s Water Sports Centre turns into hub

Jammu, Oct 25: As part of the ongoing Iconic Week Festival initiated by the Jammu and Kashmir Government across the Jammu region, the Water Sports Centre at Ranjit Sagar Dam Lake in Basohli belt of Kathua district has turned into a hub of activities.
The three day Iconic Week Festival like in the other parts of Jammu region was inaugurated with fanfare at Basohli Water Sports Centre braving harsh weather conditions on Sunday.
Secretary J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gul flanked by officers from the District Kathua administration and prominent dignitaries, launched the three-day event at the Basohli Water Sports Centre—a site coming up to boost water sports under Prime Minister Development Programme (PMDP).
The Secretary while extending greetings to the government, said that the festival will not only give a boost to the sports activities in the region but will also develop a connection among the people vis-a-vis promoting tourism in the scenic areas of the district.
She also ensured budding players of better sports infrastructure besides promising many enthusiastic players of equipment and facilities in coming days.
Dogri Folk Artists will also perform during the celebrations at Water Sports Centre Basholi this evening and on Tuesday, Ishqe-Di-Chashni fame Bollywood Singer Nupur Pant will be performing at Mega Music Concert at TRC, Ranjit Sagar Lake, Basohli.
As a part of celebrating the ‘Iconic week festival’ aimed at reviving the tourism sector in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu Tourism is organising various activities across the region from October 23 to 29.
Bollywood personalities like Mika Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Ghazal Maestro Pankaj Udhas are also the star performers in different parts of the Jammu Division during the week long celebrations being organised for 75 Years of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”.
Moreover, Himalayan bike rally, FAM tour, Jagran, Wall Climbing, Saffron plucking festival, Marathon, heritage tourism, laser light show, yoga, spiritual and wellness events, regional literature festival, bollywood night, band display, Dogra art museum exhibition, local cuisine festival and musical carnival are among other events to mark ‘Iconic Week Festival’ in different parts of the Division.
