Nine booked for cheating Thane job aspirant of Rs 26.83 lakh

Thane, Oct 3: The city police have registered a criminal case against nine people for allegedly cheating a Thane resident by promising to give him a job in a renowned automobile firm.
An offence under sections 42, 406, 34 of Indian Penal Code and also 66C, 66D has been registered with the Kalwa police station against alleged accused on Saturday, police said here on Sunday.
No one has been arrested so far in connection with the crime.
Quoting from the complaint, police said the victim had registered for employment with a job portal Naukri.com.
The accused persons contacted him between August 11, 2020 and October 2021 and made him pay various sums, amounting to Rs 26,83,717, in their bank accounts under the pretext of various charges.
When asked about the job, the accused persons gave evasive replies, the complaint stated.
The accused include Sachin Singh, Vivek Jaiswal, Arun Verma, Ashish Sharma, Ankita Rajpark, Ramesh Verma, Narendra Singh and Kamlesh Singh. UNI
