Large quantity of Carp fish dies due to heavy rain in central Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 3: Large quantity of Carp Fish died due to heavy rain in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal during the night intervening October 2 and 3, officials said.
They said due to intense rainfall, the entire stock of Carp fish at Dab Malikpora Farm, in Ganderbal perished.
The Fish Farmers have appealed to Government, particularly Director Fisheries and Principal Secretary Fisheries Department that there should be Insurance Cover for all Private Fish Farms in J&K in order to get compensation in case of such calamities.
In the past fish farmers suffered huge losses due to rainfall or landslides. UNI
