JE forcing contractor to use 800 kg iron instead 1720 kg

Jammu, Oct 01: The controversy between two Junior Engineers of Jammu Municipal Corporation and one contractor Imran Hussain has taken a new turn as the contractor alleged that the out of two JEs one JE was forcing the contractor to execute the sub-standard work, besides to use iron bars less than fifty percent i.e. to use 800 kilograms instead of 1720 kilograms as it was prescribed in description inked by JMC.
As per the compliant registered by the contractor on the official portal of JK Anti Corruption Bureau under the registered No ACBJK21000463, he mentioned that he was allotted with the work under the JMC rules and regulations and he started the work as per the description of the JMC. He further alleged that the said JE Sanjay Sharma has not visited the work place to monitor the execution of work regularly but he visited once, which is mystery in itself. He further alleged in his complaint letter that on 30-09-2021 the said JE visited the spot and started pressurizing the contractor to use 800 kilograms of steel reinforcement against 1720 kilograms as prescribed at S. No. 8 in the allotment order. The contractor resisted the undue demand of JE and both entered into heated exchange.
It is a work of deep drain in the middle of the lane and the said lane is near about 10 feet width from House of Bachan Lal Paroch Rtd PDD XEN in Ward No 51 (14th F.C. 2019-20). The intention of the said JE is very ambiguous but the contractor remained adamant to use the steel as per the prescribed prescription. The contractor in his complaint to ACB alleged that the said JE was demanding 15 percent commission of the bill and also put a rider that only those bills be redeemed for which he would receive 15 percent commission, which is sheer misuse of the chair and position.
