All teachers, students, staff to be vaccinated before reopening of schools

All teaching, non-teaching staff and eligible students of School and Higher Education Departments will be vaccinated before reopening of educational institutions across Kashmir region.
The move is aimed to prevent potential resurgence of Covid19 cases upon re-opening of educational institutions.
In this regard, the Director Health Services Kashmir (DHSK), M A Rather, asked the Directors of Higher Education and School Education Kashmir to schedule the vaccination dates for the teaching, non-teaching and eligible students.
DHSK in a communiqué said that the vaccination drive for teaching, non teaching staff and students will be conducted before re-opening of colleges and schools in Kashmir division.
The communiqué reads, “Before any decision is taken by the government in future regarding re-opening of educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir, it becomes imperative to get all teaching, non teaching staff and also eligible students fully vaccinated, so as to prevent potential resurgence of Covid19 cases upon opening up of educational institutions.”
It further states that both directors were requested to come up with the dates for vaccination of all teaching, non teaching staff as well as eligible students (batch wise).
“Dates may be conveyed to DHSK at the earliest, so that the vaccination sites are created at the places to be identified by the respective departments,” the government said.
Pertinently, on Sunday, the government ordered extension for the closure of all educational establishments across Jammu and Kashmir till July-15.
The State Executive Committee (SEC) has said that the schools, colleges, universities, technical education and skill development institutes and coaching centers shall remain closed for in-person and on-campus teaching to the students till July-15-2021.
However the government said that the courses or the programs that require physical presence of students on account of laboratory, research and thesis work or internship will be exempted.
