Illegal felling in Dhanu village also surfaced but DFO unmoved over it
*First Maira Mandrian and now Dhanu village of Bhalwal tehsil hitting the headlines of news paper for illegal felling of trees.
*Who is accountable to clog the illegal feeling of trees? When the Forest department will wake up from the deep slumber?
*DFO must focus on it and prepare a strategy to check all these menace in entire division.
Jammu, May 18:
The illegal felling of the Khair trees in Jammu is not secret to anyone and it is not confined to Maira Mandrian, but the illegal felling is going on in village Dhanu, block Mathwar and tehsil Bhalwal but the Divisional Forest Officer, Jammu division is totally ignorant about the scandal or he is ignoring it, and he knows the better.
The GPS photographs of tree stumps (left out portion of trees after cutting trees) and the statements of the Forest officials are substantiating that some illegal felling of Khair trees have been made and that too in cahoots with the responsible officials of Forest department but the concerned DFO is unmoved over it as we are reporting the issue for last so many days.
As per the statement of Ranger Pawan Sharma that the day first when the ‘Jammu Jottings’ has published the news of illegal felling of Khair trees, the Forest officials have seized the wood from the spot, which was mentioned in our news but DFO is pretending that nothing has been done there, which is matter of great concern. I would like to narrate one thing that one can woke up a person who is sleeping but no one can woke up a person who is pretending to sleep. You can correlate it.
The actual report of the ground suggest that no inquiry has been done or initiated by the Forest department at any level but DFO has told that the inquiry has been conducted in this concern, which is contrary to the reality.
I have tried to get update from senior officers of Forest department including Commissioner/Secretary, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Chief Conservator of Forest and DFO but no one attended the phone may be busy or they know it better.
I will end my story with a small story, let it would be purposeful for everyone. Once there was a tea-maker and he was running tea-stall. He was much wise and always busy in advising everyone like cricketers how to play shots or throw balls, politicians how to work, doctors how to work and journalist how to file the story but he did not know how to prepare a good tea, which was his job. I think it is enough for today.
