Scarcity of beds in hospitals leaves patients on the mercy of God
*No doubt that with this pandemic, the doctors have been overburdened but there is no other option so doctors must prepare themselves to cope up with such situation.
*The Financial Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Jammu & Kashmir Government is busy in making transfers and postings to adjust his own men but paying least attention to the reality which is going on in hospitals.
*Mr LG, please pull the strings of these bureaucrats as they are behaving like autocrats and above the system.
*The portal of the department says something and reality is other thing else.

The pandemic has created furor and outcry, besides people are gripped with the wave of frantic and the people are very scared as they know the treatment system in Jammu is entirely defunct.
The visuals have surfaced of COVID patients in Jammu being treated on hospital floors, which has sent a very dismal wave among the society, even the aged people are being left outside under sun heat for further deterioration of their health. The administration has admitted that there is shortage of beds in hospitals.
Heart-wrenching visuals of COVID-19 patients getting treated on the ground in Jammu’s CD hospital has come to light. Due to the shortage of beds, these patients are being administered treatment on the staircases as well as on the ground of the hospital. The administration has assured that patients are being provided complete assistance, however, they are not being able to admit patients as there are no beds available.
The poor families are much worried as they do not have the sources and resources, whereas the condition of the government hospitals are very tedious and sending a wrong message about the performance of the government even during the presidential rule. The entire bureaucrats have turned deaf ear to the public grievances even the Director Health Jammu never bothers to attend the phone calls of even journalists, not to talk of common people. The Superintendents of all the hospitals should be asked to be ready every time to provide information about the vacant beds and used beds.
The portal showing about the occupancy of beds in isolation and ICU wards are somehow incorrect, which should be updated after every hour so that people may get right information. To confirm this, I tried to talk with the Medical Superintendents of three hospitals but it gave me disillusionment as out of three only one superintendent has attended my call, which itself a self speaking callousness on their part. They must be asked to remain vigilant especially in this situation.
The medical and healthcare sector of Jammu is overburdened by the caseload of virus. On Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir government extended the ‘corona curfew’ till May 10 in five districts including Srinagar and Jammu.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir government has started the e-Pass facility during the COVID-19 lockdown. Reportedly, this e-Pass can be used only for medical and other emergencies. On Sunday, the Jammu and Kashmir administration declared Srinagar district as a Red Zone after the summer capital recorded 1,126 fresh COVID-19 cases. While the other 19 districts have been declared as orange zones. Till Sunday, reports suggested that no district in J&K falls under the Green Zone.
