The order of Jammu and Kashmir union territory government to withdraw all the posts referred to Public Service Commission (PSC) and Services Selection Board (SSB) has come as a jolt to the already frustrated youth of Jammu and Kashmir. The order issued today on 4th of February 2022 by General Administration Department says “The Jammu & Kashmir government has withdrawn all the posts referred to the Public Service Commission (PSC) and Services Selection Board (SSB) before October 31, 2019, for which selections have not been finalized till date.” The last line of this order which reads “for which selections have not been finalized till date” is very interesting, surprising and at the same time painful. Whose job is to finalize the selection process for any recruitment? Obviously it is the responsibility of the government and the government itself says that all those posts referred to have been withdrawn for not being finalized till date. It is funny also. This order of the government has come at a time when the future of Youth is already at cross roads. The unprecedented increase in the unemployment opportunities has increased the level of disappointment and frustration among the youth. In such circumstances this order of the government is not less than adding fuel to the fire. The exceptional increase in the percentage of unemployment is the result of various factors and policies. Among these the privatization is undoubtedly the prime and the lust of the government to favour some corporate houses just for political gains. Whatever the reason may be, the attitude of the government is not going to solve this crucial problem. Instead of creating more employment opportunities and expediting the process of recruitment for those vacancies that have already been refereed or advertised or are in the midst of recruitment, government order to withdraw the vacancies handed over to the recruitment agencies for filling the referred vacancies is in no way a wise and justified decision. .
