Dogra’s were known to be the natives of Jammu the Duggar Land and similarly the Jammu the Duggar Land was called the home of Dogra’s. The golden period of Dogra’s began with the incarnation of Gulab Singh as the Raja Gulab Singh by Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab on 16th June 1822. After the death of Maharaja Ranjit Singh the Lahore Durbar was hit by several intrigues and conspiracies. After Anglo-Sikh war and Amritsar treaty Raja Ghulab Singh was recognized as Maharaja Of Jammu and Kashmir by the British Empire. As such Ghulab Singh reigned Jammu and Kashmir Jammu as Maharaja from 16 March 1846 to 20 February 1856 till his death. This was the beginning of a glorious era of the Dogra rule which ended with the end of other principalities of the country in 1947. Though the states of Junagadh, Haedrabad and Jammu and Kashmir had not merged with India on 15th August but later on these acceded to be the part of Indian domain. The accession of Jammu and Kashmir had been slightly different than other states and the state was given special status which was repealed on 5th of August 2019 under a constitutional amendment which had been challenged and is pending in the Supreme Court. On 5th August 2019 the state of Jammu and Kashmir which was created after several sacrifices and gallantry expeditions was not only bifurcated but also degraded to two union territories of one Jammu and Kashmir and the other Ladakh. With this the glorious, gallant and historical past of the Dogra’s was crushed under the unjustified actions of political ambitions. But Dogra’s till date have failed to understand that their roots of history have been cut and thrown away and they have been made rootless identity. However there are several who feel they have been given their due right in Jammu and Kashmir, which according to them was dominated by the ‘Kashmiri’ leadership. But Dogra’s failed to understand that after this they will have to face the dominance of several other identities and with that they will lose their own identities. Prior to this there was only one challenge and now there are several challenges which they are facing. Prior to this there was no danger to their roots, culture and identity but now they are being overshadowed by various identities including Punjab, UP, Bihar, and others. Now there is Jammu but one may not find any Dogra in near future.
