RTI act to be respected by JMC officials!
- The CPIOs of JMC think that they do not have any sort of accountability except drawing handsome salaries and availing facilities but the fact is different they are accountable and Lt Governor is watching everything.
- The government decision for throwing out the deadwood officers from the government offices and that should be imply in JMC too on such officers who are not doing their job properly.

Jammu, Feb 10: Why are the officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation designated as CPIOs not working seriously? Why are the officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation designated as CPIOs earning bad name to the Corporation? Why are the officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation designated as CPIOs taking casually the RTI Act? Why are not the officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation designated as CPIOs behaving properly to the applications of RTI Activists? What is the intention of officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation designated as CPIOs? Was it not the responsible of Nodal Officer JMC to gather the reply and provide to RTI activist? Why not the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation pulling the strings of officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation designated as CPIOs? Why these officers of JMC are not taking the President Rule executed by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha seriously? These are some of the basic questions irritating in the mind of the people and the government must take cognizance of such callousness.
The another reply as desired by the Nodal Officer vide its letter No JMC/RTI/166-67 dated 20-10-2022, was made by the Assistant Commissioner (R) who is also designated as Central Public Information Officer (CPIO) vide its letter No JMC/RB/RTI/7021-22 dated 19-11-2022 clearly exhibits the ill intention of the officers. The reply letter contains no reply but only waste of time and hoodwinking of the people. This is the performance of the officers that too under the rule of Indian President and being executed by the Lt Governor.
The reply to five questions out of six is same reply and iterated five times and it contains seven words like ‘No Such information available in revenue section’. These seven words have much importance in the vision of Assistant Commissioner (R) so he replied with an authority. Whereas in reply to rest of the one question is little different but that too is not no use and only to waste the time of the office and government. The reply is like ‘It pertains to CTO Section’. This is the reply to question No 2 of the as per the RTI application.
Now the matter is that RTI activist has sought reply from the JMC officials but their response has disappointed the people and also instrumental in eroding the trust on the JMC. The JMC needs special attention of Lt Governor as it is losing credibility with each passing day and the officers hardly bother for it.
