Jammu, October 24: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Jammu has filed a chargesheet against a Health Department employee and his deceased father for allegedly securing a government job as a Dental Assistant on the basis of a forged matriculation certificate.
The chargesheet in FIR No. 55/2025 under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B RPC has been filed before the Court of the 4th Additional Munsiff, Jammu, against Sohan Lal Singh, posted at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Arnia, and his father, Veer Singh, who has since died.
The case was initiated following a communication from CID Headquarters, J&K, alleging that Sohan Lal Singh had been serving as a Dental Assistant for nearly two decades on the basis of a fraudulent Class 10 certificate purportedly issued by an institution in Bihar/Uttar Pradesh.
Investigation conducted under the supervision of DySP Vishal Sharma revealed that the accused had passed Class 8 but had not cleared the Class 10 examination through his school. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Jammu, detected erasures and chemical alterations in the marksheet, while school records revealed discrepancies in his date of birth.
According to the investigation, his father allegedly arranged forged educational documents, which were subsequently used to complete Dental Assistant training and secure the appointment through the J&K Service Selection Board.
Crime Branch said the evidence collected during the investigation established the alleged offences against the accused persons. The matter will now be examined by the court.
