Bomb Disposal Squad Defuses Suspected Explosives

Rajouri, Oct 23: Security forces have recovered suspected improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other military-related materials from a concealed hideout in the Mendhar sector of Poonch district during a search operation on Friday.
The recovery was made in the Kasblari area and its adjoining localities, which fall under the jurisdiction of Mendhar Police Post. The search operation was launched by the Indian Army following information received regarding the area. According to available information, the operation began at around 5 pm, with security personnel subsequently conducting searches in the area.
On October 23, acting on information received from the 156 Territorial Army, security forces carried out a search operation in Kasblari and discovered a concealed hideout containing suspected explosive materials and other items.
What Was Recovered?
The recovered items included six brown-coloured containers wrapped in tape and one blue-coloured container, all suspected to contain IEDs. Security personnel also recovered a black bag, a combat pouch and a black iron box suspected to contain magazines.
Other items found at the site included a magazine suspected to be meant for a 7.62 mm light machine gun (LMG), an aluminium container, two power adapters, a power source and a tiffin box.
Given the potentially hazardous nature of the recovered materials, an Army bomb disposal squad reached the site to examine the suspected explosives and undertake the necessary safety measures.
The suspected explosive devices were subsequently transported to an isolated location and defused by the bomb disposal team as part of the precautionary measures.
The recovery is being viewed as a significant development in the ongoing security operations in the region, where forces continue to conduct searches to detect concealed caches of weapons, ammunition and suspected explosive materials.
Security forces are continuing the search operation in Kasblari and surrounding areas to check for any additional suspicious material or concealed hideouts. Further details regarding the recovery and the investigation are awaited.
