Operation Sheruwali: Search Intensified for Terrorists; No Success Yet

Rajouri, June 3: The anti-terror operation jointly launched by the Indian Army, J&K Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the dense forest areas of Gambhir Muglan and Dorimal in the Manjakote sector of Rajouri district continued for the 12th consecutive day on Wednesday.
Security forces are conducting extensive search operations to trace, apprehend, or neutralize suspected terrorists believed to be hiding in the area.
According to sources, the operation was launched on May 23 following a brief exchange of fire between the terrorists and SFs in the remote and difficult forest regions of Gambhir Muglan and Dorimal.
Under the ongoing “Operation Sheruwali,” security forces have cordoned off the entire area to prevent the suspected terrorists from escaping the designated zone. Search teams are continuously combing forests, mountain slopes, and potential hideouts in a systematic and intensive manner.
During the operation, security personnel are also verifying the identities of residents and travelers entering or moving through the area. Checkpoints have been established at various locations where identity cards are being examined and suspicious activities closely monitored.
Security officials stated that the operation is being carried out under extremely challenging conditions. Dense forests, rugged mountainous terrain, and difficult geographical features have made the mission complex.
Despite these challenges, security forces are proceeding with utmost caution and maintaining constant surveillance across the area.
Notably, on Tuesday, General Officer Commanding (GOC), White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra, accompanied by the GOC, CIF Romeo, visited the Gambhir Muglan and reviewed the progress of ongoing operations.
Lt. Gen Mishra was briefed on the operational plan, ongoing actions, and sustainment measures being undertaken by the troops.
He also reviewed the logistics framework supporting forces operating in the challenging terrain.
