Jammu, January 21, 2026: In a significant breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), J&K, today delivered a powerful blow to the drug nexus, arresting two drug peddlers and recovering a massive 8.5 kilograms of Charas during a meticulously executed operation on the Sidhra Bypass in Jammu. This major interception, which forms part of ANTF’s relentless war on drugs, was carried out under the direct and strategic supervision of IG Crime Surjeet Kumar, with SSP M. Anwar Ul Haq of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, J&K, closely watching every detail.
Acting on specific and credible intelligence, a dedicated team of ANTF intercepted a Santro car bearing registration number DL10CA-9852 at Sidhra Bypass. During a meticulous search of the vehicle, the substantial quantity of Charas-like contraband was recovered. The arrested accused have been identified as Gurmeet Singh (S/o Ujjagar Singh, R/o Ward No. 2, Simbal Camp, Dhindey Kalan, R.S. Pura, Nihalpur Simbal, Jammu; presently residing at Indra Nagar, Miran Sahib) and Parvinder Kour (W/o Inderjeet Singh, R/o Simbal Camp, R.S. Pura, Dhindey Kalan, Miran Sahib, Jammu). Both accused were apprehended on the spot, and the vehicle used in the commission of the offence has been seized.
Preliminary investigation strongly indicates that the accused were transporting the contraband from Kashmir to Jammu for further illegal distribution. This current bust is not an isolated incident; it follows a similar major success where ANTF had previously intercepted a consignment of 1.5 kilograms of heroin with an estimated market value of ₹4 crore. That consignment was also destined for a supplier, with investigations revealing a sophisticated network that channelled narcotics from Kashmir for onward supply to major metropolitan cities like Mumbai. This pattern highlights a deeply entrenched and extensive inter-state drug trafficking operation.
With the registration of FIR No. 01/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, further investigation is now aggressively underway. The ANTF is resolutely committed to tracing the precise source of the contraband as well as identifying all forward and backward linkages involved in this intricate narcotics network.
