Rajouri, January 14, 2026: On the solemn occasion of the 10th Armed Forces Veterans Day, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today paid a heartfelt and impactful tribute to ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and their family members, attending a commemorative event at ALG Rajouri. In a powerful address to a large gathering, LG Sinha lauded the veterans as “embodiment of living history” and emphasized that their sacrifices have not only safeguarded the nation’s freedom but have profoundly shaped the destiny of India.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed his deep gratitude to the veterans and brave army soldiers for consistently placing the safety of others above their own. He unequivocally stated that the selfless service of the armed forces is not merely a job but a lifelong commitment, one that continues even after their military careers conclude and the uniform is folded away. LG Sinha highlighted that the courage of veterans extends far beyond the battlefield, playing a crucial role in establishing peace and ensuring the nation’s ongoing progress.
Saluting the indomitable resilience of the army’s Bravehearts and their profound love for the motherland, the Lieutenant Governor affirmed that “the courage and sacrifice of the army is the backbone of our nation’s security.” He painted a poignant picture of their unseen dedication: “The sacrifices of our soldiers remain invisible. While the nation sleeps in peace, they stand alert. While the nation celebrates festivals together, our soldiers safeguard the border far away from home. They do not speak about Sacrifice. They live it every moment.”
Marking the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor inaugurated the significant “Wall of Fame” and launched a dedicated police helpline service for veterans, initiatives designed to further honour and support the ex-servicemen community. He reiterated the government’s unwavering resolve, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, towards the comprehensive welfare of veterans and their families.
LG Sinha underscored the vital role veterans play in society, stating, “Veterans are living role models for youth and guiding the nation with character, timeless values and selfless service. They are leading by example in everyday life.” He emphasized their continuous contribution: “From safeguarding the nation to serving the society; our armed forces veterans continue to shape India’s future.” The Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed his personal commitment, declaring, “It is my commitment to honour veterans’ service through care. We are not only dedicated to the well-being of Veterans’ families but also building a life of dignity for those brave soldiers who served and sacrificed.”
The event also saw the distribution of motorized wheelchairs, retrofitted scooties, and other essential mobility aids to the veterans and Veer Naris, directly addressing their needs. LG Sinha paid homage to the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, and also offered tributes to Second Lieutenant Ram Raghoba Rane, Brigadier Mohammad Usman, Naik Jadunath Singh, and other Bravehearts of Rajouri.
A mega Ex-Servicemen Rally was successfully organized to mark the occasion, drawing a large attendance of dignitaries and citizens. Prominent figures present included Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command; Lt Gen P K Mishra, GOC White Knight Corps (16 Corps); Maj Gen Kaushik Mukherjee, GOC 25 Inf Division; Brig. Pankaj Chib (Retd), Director Sainik Welfare Department; Shri Iftkhar Ahmed, Thakur Randhir Singh, and Ms. Devyani Rana—Members of Legislative Assembly; Shri Tejinder Singh, DIG Rajouri Poonch Range; Shri Abhishek Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri; Shri Gaurav Sikarwar, SSP Rajouri, along with other senior officials of security forces, civil and police administration, all paying tribute to the veterans and Veer Naris.
