55 Lecturers/Teachers Found Absent on JK Smart Attendance App in Rajouri

DC Directs Chief Education Officer to Initiate Action
Employees Remained Absent for 5 Consecutive Days

Rajouri, December 9: District authorities, while reviewing the punctuality and regularity of government school staff through the JK Smart Attendance App, found 55 lecturers, masters, and teachers absent from duty for five consecutive days-from December 3 to December 8. Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma (IAS), the District School Education Officer (DS&EO) instructed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri to initiate action against the absentees.
The list forwarded to the CEO revealed that staff members from various education zones across Rajouri district had remained absent without authorisation for five straight days, leaving schoolchildren-particularly those in board classes-deprived of regular teaching. Their absence has reportedly disrupted teaching schedules and slowed syllabus completion.
According to Sandeep Sharma, District Nodal Officer for the JK Smart Attendance Portal, a detailed review of the app confirmed that these 55 employees failed to mark their attendance on all five days. He further stated that such prolonged unauthorised absence has significantly impacted students’ learning, especially those preparing for upcoming board examinations.
Nodal Officer Sandeep Sharma has submitted a formal report to the CEO Rajouri, noting that the Deputy Commissioner has directed immediate disciplinary action against all defaulting lecturers, masters, and teachers. The CEO has also been asked to keep the DC office updated on the action taken.
