Poonch, November 13, 2025: In a major and multi-pronged offensive against the illicit narcotics trade, ASP Poonch Mohan Sharma has spearheaded a relentless crackdown, resulting in both significant drug seizures and the attachment of substantial assets belonging to a notorious drug peddler. This robust action underscores Poonch Police’s unwavering commitment to dismantling the financial networks that fuel the drug menace, with ASP Sharma personally asserting that “no one will be spared” in the fight against criminal and anti-national activities.
In a crucial development, a Special Investigation Team (SIT), specifically constituted to tackle a high-profile drug case, was chaired by Additional SP Poonch Mohan Sharma. This dedicated team successfully intercepted a major heroin smuggling racket, leading to the seizure of nearly two kilograms of heroin. The operation also resulted in the arrest of four individuals involved in the illicit trade, and four vehicles used in the commission of the crime have been seized. The SIT, under ASP Sharma’s leadership, included DSP Headquarters Neeraj Sharma, DSP Operations Surender Singh, and SHO Poonch Sachinder Singh, highlighting a concentrated and coordinated effort to target drug syndicates.
In a separate, yet equally significant, breakthrough, Poonch Police has attached immovable property worth ₹1.11 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler. This stern action was initiated in connection with FIR No. 178/2025, registered at Police Station Poonch under sections 8/21/22/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The attached property belongs to Mohd Iqbal, son of Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Seri Khwaja, presently residing at Kamsar. The asset, which stands in the name of his wife Shahnaz Kouser, comprises a three-storey building currently under construction, situated at Khasra No. 2093, Kamsar, measuring 10 marlas, with an estimated market value of ₹1.11 crore. The attachment has been executed in strict accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act, and the Competent Authority (SAFEMA) has been formally apprised of this decisive action.
ASP Poonch Mohan Sharma has consistently affirmed a zero-tolerance policy towards the drug menace, stating, “Our message is clear: no one involved in this nefarious trade will be spared.
