Jammu, September 11, 2025: Udhampur Police, under the unyielding strategic command of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Ashok Nagpure, IPS, has once again delivered a significant blow to drug trafficking networks, this time by busting an inter-state narco module in Majalta. The apprehension of three individuals from Punjab with a commercial quantity of heroin not only adds another feather to the force’s cap but also pushes the cumulative NDPS arrests this year to 117 and the overall arrests in its relentless “War on Drugs” from January to August 2025 to a staggering 127, further solidifying its reputation as a formidable adversary to the narcotics trade.
The latest success unfolded during a routine naka checking at Battal Majalta. An alert police team from Police Station Majalta intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. PB08FM 4157, which was travelling from Ramkote towards Udhampur. A thorough search of the vehicle and its occupants led to the recovery of 250 grams of heroin, commonly known as ‘chitta’. The three occupants, identified as Darvinderpal, son of Rughveer Singh, resident of Garha, Jalandhar; Manjeet Singh, son of Gurnam Singh, resident of Hari Pura, Amritsar; and Bikramjit Kumar, son of Sukhraj, resident of Aima Khurad, Punjab, were immediately arrested on the spot. A case FIR No. 71/2025 has been registered at Police Station Majalta under relevant sections of the NDPS Act (8/21/22), and further investigation is actively in progress to trace their wider network.
This recent interception by Police Station Majalta’s vigilant team is a testament to the sustained and aggressive anti-narcotics campaign spearheaded by SSP Nagpure since the beginning of the year. From January to August 2025, Udhampur Police has waged a multi-pronged offensive, registering 86 cases under the NDPS Act and arresting 117 individuals under the NDPS Act, alongside 10 under the stringent PIT NDPS/PSA Acts. The force’s strategic focus on disrupting logistical chains has led to the seizure of 37 vehicles used in narcotic smuggling, while 7 pharmacy shops were sealed for violating H1 drug norms.
Beyond arrests and seizures, the “Nagpure Doctrine” has laid heavy emphasis on dismantling the economic foundations of drug trafficking. In a powerful financial crackdown, Udhampur Police has frozen 54 bank accounts linked to drug traffickers, immobilizing funds amounting to ₹17,47,812. The total value of narcotics seized during this period, including heroin, charas, poppy straw, and ganja, has reached a staggering ₹5.69 crore. More significantly, properties worth an impressive ₹5.27 crore, acquired through illicit drug money – encompassing trucks, cars, bikes, flats, houses, and land – have been attached under NDPS provisions. Adding to these efforts, 2 kanal 10 marla of illicit opium cultivation was systematically destroyed in Panchari. The cumulative recovery of heroin, including today’s seizure, now stands at over 1.45 kilograms since January.
