Relentless Campaign from Jan-June 2025 Yields 107 FIRs, 1.2 Kg Heroin Recovery, 7 PIT NDPS Detentions; Focus Now on Dismantling Hotspots & Fortifying De-Addiction Services
Under the strategic command of SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, JKPS, Jammu Police has intensified its “war on drugs,” registering 107 NDPS FIRs, arresting 150 peddlers, and seizing 37 vehicles in the first half of 2025, with a massive recovery of 1 Kg 208 Grams of heroin worth crores.
In a crippling blow to the financial infrastructure of drug networks, three immovable properties valued at ?85,70,285, acquired through illicit drug trade, were attached, while seven hardcore peddlers were detained under the stringent PIT NDPS Act.
Beyond enforcement, a robust community-centric approach saw 420 drug awareness programs conducted and significant rehabilitation efforts, with 725 patients visiting the OPD and 156 admitted to the IPD at the Police Drug De-addiction Centre in Channi, Jammu.

Jammu, July 03, 2025: Adopting a comprehensive and relentless “total war” strategy against the narcotics menace, Jammu Police, under the steadfast leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh, JKPS, has achieved major milestones in the first six months of 2025. This multi-pronged blitzkrieg, from January 1st to June 30th, has not only resulted in a significant number of arrests and seizures but has also focused on dismantling the financial empires of drug lords and bolstering community-based prevention and rehabilitation efforts, sending a clear message that no aspect of the drug ecosystem will be spared.
The sheer intensity of the law enforcement drive is reflected in the registration of 107 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This proactive policing led to the apprehension of 150 individuals involved in the sordid trade, including several kingpins. A staggering 83 of these FIRs, resulting in 122 arrests, were related to heroin (chitta) alone, highlighting the force’s focus on combating the most dangerous and addictive substances plaguing the region. In these operations, 37 vehicles used for trafficking were also seized, disrupting the logistical supply chains. The crowning achievement of these seizures was the recovery of 1 kilogram and 208 grams of heroin, valued at several crores in the illicit market, a testament to the police’s success in intercepting major consignments.
Recognizing that street-level arrests are only one part of the solution, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh’s strategy has laid heavy emphasis on breaking the financial backbone of the drug mafia. In a significant move that strikes at the heart of their operations, three immovable properties, including residential and commercial structures valued at ?85,70,285, were identified and attached under the NDPS Act. This confiscation of illegally acquired assets represents a critical step in ensuring that crime does not pay. Complementing this, seven hardcore and habitual drug peddlers were booked under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act, a measure reserved for the most incorrigible offenders to keep them out of circulation. Jammu Police has affirmed its serious commitment to identifying and attaching all proceeds of narcotics and illegally acquired properties of traffickers.
Beyond the hard-nosed enforcement, Jammu Police has championed a robust community outreach and prevention program. A remarkable 420 drug awareness programs were conducted across the district, including school and college-level debates, 59 Police-Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings, and 60 “Thana Diwas” events. These initiatives, which included over 50 anti-drug rallies with a special focus on suspected drug hotspots, aimed to educate the youth about the perils of substance abuse and to build a strong, community-led front against the drug menace. The police are now working actively with the civil administration and the public to dismantle the remaining drug hotspots.
A crucial pillar of this holistic strategy is the focus on rehabilitation. The state-of-the-art “Police Drug De-addiction, Rehabilitation and Mental Health Care Centre” in Channi, Jammu, has been instrumental in this effort. In the first half of 2025 alone, the facility provided treatment to a significant number of individuals, with 725 patients visiting the Out-Patient Department (OPD) and 156 patients receiving intensive in-patient (IPD) care. This de-addiction centre, functional since 2013 and upgraded to a new, well-equipped facility in March 2024, has treated a total of 16,645 OPD patients and 725 IPD patients until the end of 2024, demonstrating a long-term commitment by J&K Police to help victims of drug abuse reclaim their lives.
