SHO Jai Paul Sharma’s Team Intercepts Drug Network, Seizes 160 Gms ‘Chitta’, Tokas, Swift Dzire; Financial Probe Initiated to Dismantle Entire Illicit Operation
In a major blow to drug trafficking networks, Miran Sahib Police, under the command of SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, JKPS, arrested seven drug peddlers and recovered 160 grams of heroin, sharp-edged weapons (Tokas), cash, and a Swift Dzire vehicle.
The successful operation, led by the diligent team of SHO Miran Sahib, Inspector Jai Paul Sharma, resulted in the apprehension of a gang involved in inter-district drug smuggling, with accused hailing from Jammu, Kathua, and Reasi.
A case FIR No. 85/2025 has been registered under stringent sections of the BNS, NDPS Act, and Arms Act, and a comprehensive investigation, including a financial probe to unearth the proceeds of the narcotic trade, has been initiated to dismantle the entire supply chain.

Jammu, July 01, 2025: Delivering another significant blow to the narcotics trade in the region, Jammu Police, specifically the team from Police Station Miran Sahib, has successfully busted a major drug trafficking network, apprehending seven peddlers and seizing a substantial quantity of heroin, sharp-edged weapons, cash, and a vehicle used in the crime. This meticulously executed operation, conducted under the overarching guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh, JKPS, and led on the ground by the proactive team of Station House Officer (SHO) Miran Sahib, Inspector Jai Paul Sharma, underscores the force’s relentless commitment to its war against drugs.
The breakthrough occurred during routine patrolling and naka checking duties, a cornerstone of Jammu Police’s strategy for area domination and crime prevention. The alert police team from Miran Sahib observed suspicious activity involving a group of individuals, prompting them to intercept and conduct a thorough check. This intervention led to the recovery of 160 grams of a substance suspected to be heroin, commonly known as ‘chitta’. In addition to the narcotics, the police also seized two sharp-edged weapons (Tokas), five mobile phones, and cash amounting to ?7,000 from the possession of the accused. A Swift Dzire vehicle, presumably used for transporting the contraband and the peddlers, was also impounded on the spot.
The arrested individuals have been identified as a diverse group, indicating an inter-district smuggling network. They are: Mohd Mansha, son of Mohd Mirza, resident of Ghandhu Chack Phallian Mandal; Mohd Saleem, son of Gulam Hussain, resident of Hatli More, Kathua; Mohd Kabir, son of Gulam Rasool, resident of Kanskhassan, Reasi; Lal Hussain, son of Abdul Hussain, resident of Alwara Phallian Mandal; Mohd Mushtaq, son of Abdul Hamied, resident of Kanskhassan; Anil Kumar, son of Ram Dita, resident of Thalwal Phallian Mandal; and Asif Ali, son of Sher Baz, resident of Gujjar Nagar, Tehsil Jammu.
In connection with this major recovery and arrest, a case under FIR No. 85/2025 has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib. The charges invoked are stringent and multi-faceted, including sections 109, 132, 121, 191(2), and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), sections 8, 21, 22, and 29 of the NDPS Act, and section 4/25 of the Arms Act, reflecting the gravity of the offences.
The successful operation was executed under the close supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) R S Pura, Gurmeet Singh, and the Superintendent of Police (SP) Headquarters Jammu, Irshad Hussain Rather, with the overall strategic direction provided by SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, JKPS, who has consistently emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking.
A comprehensive investigation into the case is now underway. Police are meticulously working to uncover all backward and forward linkages to determine the source from where the contraband was procured and its intended destination. The questioning of the seven arrested peddlers is expected to yield crucial leads on the larger supply chain and distribution network operating across different districts.
Significantly, and in line with modern policing strategies aimed at dismantling criminal enterprises, a financial investigation has been initiated simultaneously. This probe will focus on identifying and tracing the proceeds generated from this illegal narcotic trade, with the objective of taking further appropriate legal measures, such as the attachment of properties, to completely dismantle the financial backbone of this network.
