SSP Amod Ashok Nagpure Leads Major Crackdown Against Drug Mafia

Udhampur Police Attaches Properties Worth Rs 1 Crore of Notorious Drug Peddler in Poonch

SSP Udhampur Amod Ashok Nagpure (IPS) supervised the entire operation, reaffirming the police’s commitment to eliminate the drug menace and dismantle narco-financed assets in the district.
PSI Manveer Singh PP Tikri played a crucial role in identifying and tracking the illegal properties of the drug peddler, working in close coordination with SHO Rehambal and DySP Headquarters.
Property worth Rs 1 crore was attached in Poonch under Section 68-F(2) of the NDPS Act, including a double-storeyed building and a house on 7 marlas of land-believed to be bought using drug money.
The action is linked to FIR No. 212/2024 registered at PS Rehambal, where the accused, Mohd. Hafiz, is under judicial custody, sending a strong message that assets earned through narcotics trade will not be spared.

HARPREET SINGH
Udhampur, April 18, 2025: In a high-impact operation demonstrating its resolve to dismantle the drug mafia and eliminate narco-financed assets, Udhampur Police on Thursday attached properties worth over Rs 1 crore belonging to notorious drug peddler Mohd. Hafiz, son of Mohd. Hussain, resident of Kunnian, District Poonch.
The action was carried out under Section 68-F(2) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 and marks one of the most significant property attachments under anti-narcotics enforcement in recent months.
The properties attached include a double-storey building and a residential house spread over 7 marlas of prime land in Kunnian. The assets were identified as illegally acquired through proceeds from narcotics trafficking.
The investigation, which led to this major breakthrough, was conducted by a dedicated team comprising DySP Headquarters Prehlad Sharma, SHO PS Rehambal Inspector Nishat Ahmed, and ICPP Tikri PSI Manveer Singh, under the close and direct supervision of SSP Udhampur Amod Ashok Nagpure (IPS).
According to police sources, Hafiz is presently lodged in judicial custody in Case FIR No. 212/2024 of Police Station Rehambal, which pertains to large-scale drug trafficking activities. The evidence collected during the probe confirmed that the properties were acquired using proceeds from illegal narcotics trade.
Sources close to the investigation said PSI Manveer Singh Police Post Tikri played a key operational role in tracking the assets and coordinating with Jammu Police to establish a paper trail leading to the attachment.
SSP Amod Ashok Nagpure, while confirming the development, said:
“This action sends a strong message to all drug traffickers and their facilitators that Udhampur Police will pursue not only their arrests but also the financial networks funding their illegal activities. We are committed to safeguarding our society from the menace of drugs.”
Senior police officials credited the meticulous documentation and field investigation done by the Udhampur team, assisted by inputs from intelligence units and coordination with counterparts in Jammu, as the foundation of the success.
This case is also seen as a landmark action in strengthening NDPS enforcement, particularly the underutilized provisions of property attachment under Section 68 of the Act, designed to cut the financial lifeline of organized drug syndicates.
Citizens and local leaders have lauded the Udhampur Police for this decisive strike, urging that such operations be regularly conducted to root out the deeper networks of drug smuggling that have affected youth across the region.
The story of Udhampur Police’s relentless war on drugs continues – and the message is clear: Crime may pay temporarily, but the law will catch up – with handcuffs and hammer.
