SURANKOTE: One day symposium on the theme of “Caring for your Colleague Campaign against Drug Abuse” was held in GDC Surankote in collaboration with District Police Poonch, Anti-Drug Committee, Deptt. of English, Geography, Political Science & NCC of GDC Surankote. The topic of the symposium was “Drug Abuse: A curse for human society.
Sh. Mohan Sharma Add. SP Poonch was Chief Guest & Dr. Rani Mughal worthy Principal GDC Surankote Presided over the functions. Dr. Javed Manzoor, Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed & Dr. Tabarak Amin Khan acted as Judges of the symposium.
Ten students participated in the symposium & presented detailed speches on the drugs abuse and its ill effect in English, Hini & Urdu languages.
The participants also appreciated Distt. Administrations Poonch & Distt. Police Poonch for their successful battle against drugs Mafia & Awareness Programmes, to save precious lives. Ms. Zahima Kouser, Ms. Asma Badar, Mr. Umar Farooq Ms. Misbah Dar, Ms. Rukhsana Khursheed, Ms. Samreen Afzal, Ms. Ashiq Hussain, Ms. Rizina Kouser, Ms. Parwana Kouser & Ms. Ghousia Firdous participated in the symposium.
Prof. Fateh Mohammad Abbasi HoD Zoology and Prof. Adnan Ali Shah HoD English conducted the proceeding of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest Sh. Mohan Sharma Add. SP Poonch said congratulated the principal of the college Prof. Dr. Rani Mughal Mam for her unwavering dedication towards the upliftment and betterment of students of GDC Surankote. He motivated the students to stay away from drug abuse and allied activities for a better future.
In her presidential address, Principal Dr. Rani Mughal Mam appreciated the efforts of District Police Poonch in eradicating the menace of drug abuse in District Poonch. She also spoke about the ill effects of intoxicants and opioids in the human body. She also spoke about the evils of using social media too much.
Participants namely Ms. Samreen Afzal, Ms. Zahima Kouser & Ms. Asma Bader bagged the 1st, 2nd & 3rd position respectively.
